***OVER A MILLION COPIES OF THE IRON DRUID BOOKS SOLD*** 'American Gods meets Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden' SFF World Book one in the New York Times bestselling Iron Druid Chronicles, the vastly popular contemporary fantasy series starring hero Atticus O'Sullivan - filled with mystery, magic and mayhem. Atticus O'Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he's twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he's hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power - plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a sexy bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish - to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil. I was directed to read this book because I am a huge fan of the Dresden files by Jim Butcher. The setting in Hounded is Urban Fantasy and the protagonist is a snarky, wise-cracking, magic wielding bad-ass who is friends with werewolves and other mythical creatures / deities. That being said, do not expect this book to be a clone of The Dresden Files books. The protagonist Atticus is a 2100 year old druid, who looks like he is still twenty-one. The last of his kind. Hiding out from the Fey in Arizona. All he wants really is to be left alone. But that would make a pretty boring book now wouldn't it? Atticus is in possession of a very powerful magic sword that the Celtic god of love Really would like back and has been sending assassins after him for years. Now, he has discovered where Atticus is and his patience has run out. The thing is, Atticus really does not want to go anywhere. He has found a life he likes. My favorite Character in this book was Oberon. Oberon is Atticus's Irish Wolfhound that he has bound to his mind so they can communicate telepathically. Oberon and Atticus share not only in adventure but in witty banter. I completed this book in three days as I could not put it down! I promptly picked up the second book in this series (Hexed) and have finished it as well (review coming soon) and am now starting book three
