Eine Tragödie vom Feinsten. Die Personen schrammen immer wieder nur knapp an Glück und Rettung vorbei, immer scheint sich das Schicksal gegen sie verschworen zu haben. Das Buch ließt sich wie ein Theaterstück voller Witz. Manche der philosophischen Passagen hätte man auch kürzen können, dafür fügen sich andere lustige gut in die fatalistische Handlungsentwicklung des Buches ein. Außer manchen Hauptpersonen und Grundzügen der Handlung hat das Stück nur wenig mit der Disney-Adaption zu tun.
