The book also discusses wildcatter Glenn McCarthy. The book also states that WWII Bombers used jet Fuel! Page 147 "High Octane jet fuel" This one quote shows a lack of concern about detail and shoddy research. Jet fuel is a kerosene based product the Brits refer to it as paraffin. The airplane engines that powered the many versions of the Mustang B, D, were also used on Avro Lancaster they used high octane gasoline. This is a huge detail because in most barrels of oil there is far more potential jet fuel than high octane gasoline. Clive Irving his book Wide Body discusses this issue as a compelling reason for the conversion to jet airliners in addition to speed.
