La serie fue inspirada por el poema Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came, de Robert Browning. La historia es una continuación de El Pistolero y sigue a Roland de Gilead y su búsqueda de la Torre Oscura. El subtítulo de la novela es RENOVACIÓN.

I feel so differently by each "door" that I'm not sure how to rate the book as a whole. I would still rate the work highly as being able to combine the three different parts was so genius. The first part I would give a 10, with the second a 7, and the third an 8 perhaps?
