ایستادگی یک رمان ترسناک/فانتزی پسارستاخیزی است که توسط استیون کینگ، نویسنده آمریکایی نوشته شده‌است. وی سناریوی این کتاب را قبلاً در داستان کوتاه گشت‌وگذار شبانه نشان داده بود. این رمان در اصل در سال ۱۹۸۷ منتشر شده بود و سپس در سال ۱۹۹۰ با عنوان ایستادگی: ویرایش کامل و حذف نشده، دوباره منتشر شد. کینگ از سال ۱۹۸۰ تا ۱۹۹۰ قسمتی از متن اصلی را بازگردانی کرده و برای اختصار حذف کرد. وی بخش‌هایی را اضافه و تجدیدنظر کرده، موقعیت داستان را تغییر داده و بر این اساس برخی از ارجاعات فرهنگ عامه را به روزرسانی کرد. ایستادگی، برای دریافت جایزه فانتزی جهانی برای بهترین رمان در سال ۱۹۷۹ نامزد شده بود و برای ساخت یک مینی‌سریال تلویزیونی از شبکه ای‌بی‌سی و یک رمان گرافیکی منتشرشده توسط مارول کمیکس نیز از این رمان اقتباس شده است.

This rating is for the "Complete and Uncut" (can we just start revering to these editions as the "Uncircumcised editions"?). I thought the book was a little too long, and showcased King's number one flaw: lingering on useless points for too long that end up not going anywhere. I actually managed to find a copy of the first original edition (only 800 pages!) at Powell's last year, so I'm going to read that one at the same time as the Uncircumcised edition and see how much is different.

I was very engaged for the first 2/3 of the story, but like most King books I've read, the main issue with this one is that it ends up dragging on far past the point where it should have ended and the ending was really weak anyway.
