Richard Johnstone-Scott

Jambo died in Gerald Durrell's Jersey Zoo in 1992 aged 31. Already famous as the first male gorilla born in captivity, in 1986, he made headlines when he protected a boy who had fallen into the gorilla's enclosure. This is an account of Jambo's life and his relationship with the author.
