The Forensic Files of Batman is a collection of short stories based on the Batman comic books, written by author Doug Moench and published in 2004 by Ibooks, Inc. It depicts the earlier years of detective work of Bruce Wayne as Batman.
This novel relates how Batman uses clues found at crime scenes to foil the plans of some of his most famous villains as well as other murders committed by "normal" people. Among the famous villains he fights with in the book we find The Joker, Two-Face, The Scarecrow, Catwoman, Zsasz and the False Face Society.
Each chapter is a different case presented from the notes, journals, and case files of the Batman, Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, and Jim Gordon.
A memorable quote from the book, that defines it completely, is that of "Murder. The crime most foul". It states that every murderer, everywhere, leaves always clues to be found, even in the most devastating of crimes, such as those involved in a fire, where only the victim's teeth may survive.
