When Jackie Hartnell’s husband dies unexpectedly, soon after retiring, Jackie decides to become a solo traveller and explore the world. She is initiated into the world of backpacks, walking boots and youth hostels and becomes an expert on travelling on a shoestring. No Fixed Address is an inspiring collection of tales about her travels to such far-flung destinations as Morocco, Finland, Ireland and Thailand. Jackie walks through the Lakes District, goes barging on England’s canals, bathes in the freezing cold lakes of Finland and explores Morocco’s souks. Along the way she makes new friends, both young and old. She also sets off around Australia in SKI 2, her camper van, named after the fact that she is “spending the kids’ inheritance”.
