The Bell Jar é o único romance da escritora e poetisa norte-americana Sylvia Plath, o qual foi publicado originalmente sob o pseudônimo "Victoria Lucas" em 1963.
Embora não seja um livro autobiográfico, pois o nome de pessoas e de lugares foram trocados, a doença mental da protagonista é bastante semelhante às experiências que Plath teve com o que pode ter sido um transtorno bipolar ou uma depressão clínica. A autora cometeu suicídio um mês após a primeira publicação da obra.

This was very well written, it shows how one thinks when they are getting more and more depressed. I rate books based on how amazed I am when I read them, how useful or fun they are. This one made me understand depression better, but I believe it only made me feel worse about this and was not able to make me think sympathetically or try and find a way to deal in a better way with this.
