Shantaram – powieść Australijczyka Gregory'ego Davida Robertsa, który skazany za napad na bank, uciekłszy z australijskiego więzienia, przeżył 10 lat w Indiach, zajmując się handlem narkotykami, fałszowaniem paszportów i uczestnicząc w wojnie w Afganistanie. Swoje przeżycia opisał w autobiograficznej książce. Powieść w oryginale została wydana w 2003 roku, polskie tłumaczenie Maciejki Mazan w 2008. Pozycja została wydana przez wydawnictwo Świat Książki, zawiera 687 stron.Mira Nair i Peter Weir mieli nakręcić film Shantaram, w którym głównego bohatera miał zagrać Johnny Depp. W listopadzie 2007 zapowiedziano, że produkcja rozpocznie się w październiku 2008 r, jednak w listopadzie 2009 r. brytyjska gazeta The Independent podała, że projekt został „odłożony na półkę”.

The scents of India, incredible atmospheres, stories and unforgettable quotes. This book has it all. I was really sad when I reached the last page, because I got attached to the protagonist and side-characters. It's a book able to teach something and at the same time, totally engaging and thrilling. Don't be scared by the number of pages, in the end they will be not enough.

This is my favorite book. I love both the story and the story behind it. It was so life changing for me that I keep coming back to read it again and again.
