Ingenious Pain is the first novel by English author, Andrew Miller, released on 20 February 1997 through Sceptre. The novel received critical praise and won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Fiction, the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award and the Italian Premio Grinzane Cavour prize for a foreign language novel. The novel was also listed on the New York Times "Notable Books of the Year" for 1997.
